My Top 5 Travel Apps

For me, a new year means new travel plans. Each year, I try to travel to at least one international location. 2018 was Africa, 2019 was Cuba. Who knows what 2020 will bring?

But what I do know is that wherever I travel, whether it be to another state or another country, there are certain apps that I rely on to help me plan the best trip and make the most of my time while travelling!

  1. Roadtrippers

This has been my lifesaver for at least 4 years now. Whenever I go somewhere new, I prefer to visit places that are off the beaten path as opposed to top tourist sites. I feel like I experience more of the culture that way. This app will help you find anything you want: abandoned buildings, museums, places to eat, and so much more. You can even plan a road trip route and bookmark stops along the way! It’s definitely my favorite resource when planning a new trip.

2. GasBuddy

GasBuddy is perfect for literally anyone who drives a car. Whether you’re planning a road trip or just need to fill up on gas. Just give the app your location and it will help you find the cheapest gas station in your area. It’s foolproof and a great addition to anyone planning a road trip.

3. Hopper

Cheap flights. I don’t think I need to say much more. Hopper will help you find the cheapest flights to wherever you want to go. There’s even an option that shows you the cheapest flights anywhere. Just say where you’re leaving from and Hopper will calculate a destination for you, with most domestic flights being under $90.

4. AirBnB

If you haven’t heard of AirBnB, I don’t know where you’ve been, but I’m about to change your life. Basically, people all over the world will rent out rooms or houses for you to stay in at a fraction of a hotel price. I don’t go anywhere without checking AirBnB first.

5. TripScout

TripScout is described as “your personalized, up-to-date travel guide”. And that’s exactly what it is. Just download the app, pick your location and dates, your group size (solo, partner, family), and your budget. The app will populate a collection of articles and guidebooks for you to choose exactly what you want to do and where you want to go while you’re on your trip!

What are some of your favorite apps or websites to use when you travel? Do you have any travel plans for the new year? Let me know in the comments!

Xoxo, Emily
